Latest Volunteer News – Help Needed!

Can you spare a little time? Sheringham Carnival is looking for volunteers, there are plenty of roles to choose from.

Make friends, enjoy yourself
. . . and support Sheringham.

The first Sheringham Carnival social at The Lobster was undeniably a success. There was quite a crowd of ‘old hands’ and ‘new faces’ – everyone got chatting and five signed-up to help out. This positive reaction doesn’t mean Sheringham Carnival will rest on its laurels; there is some way to go before it can claim pre-pandemic numbers.

However, if events are to continue, more help is needed.

Here are a few key areas: –

Traffic Marshalls and First Aiders are always needed to ensure events proceed safely. Anyone interested in First Aid who doesn’t have an up-to-date certificate needn’t worry as FREE, certificated, training will be offered (with the proviso they help out at two events).

Anyone interested in being a First Aider please contact Ben: ben@carolinesands.co.uk. Those interested in marshalling should contact Caroline: caroline@carolinesands.co.uk

Strength and endurance roles. These are difficult to describe; bodies are always needed behind the scenes in the run-up to, and tear down from, an event. People who can pick up ‘stuff’ and put it where it’s needed. Then put it back tidily from whence it came. Alternatively, be around when needed, to generally fetch and carry on the day. Interested? Please contact: secretary@sheringhamcarnival.com

Bucket Collectors are always desirable to bring in as much cash as possible to top up Carnival funds on event days. It is a role for the theatrical as it is a wonderful opportunity to dress-up and behave outrageously. Interested? Please contact: secretary@sheringhamcarnival.com

Stall/event organisers. Carnival needs people to run stalls, or curate mini events. This is an opportunity for an individual, couple or team to organise something that is supported by Carnival yet is conceived and managed independently. Pick an old favourite using Carnival’s extensive equipment ie Hook a Duck, or introduce a whole new concept. Carnival needs people who are able to see a project through from concept to organising the manpower, prizes, publicity etc. Any legal and H&S requirements will be discussed through regular liaison with the committee. No-one will be left floundering.

Tow bar owners needed. Carnival needs experienced owners of vehicles with tow bars. There are multiple occasions where larger items need to be moved. Using the Carnival trailer you could be relocating anything from a Viking Longboat to the Town Christmas Tree.
