In view of the poor weather forecast for tomorrow, particularly the very high winds that are expected, Miramar Veterinary Centre have taken the decision to cancel the above event. We are sorry for the disappointment but hope you understand.
A fabulous afternoon at Mo & Tracy’s Carnival PRIZE Bingo hosted by The Tyneside on Monday 5th August.
Each of the eight traditional games had prizes of £5 for a line, £10 for two lines and £20 for a full house so there were plenty of opportunities to win.
Tension was high when it was announced that the big prize for the Full House Flyer was no longer just the £50 prize donated equally by The Tyneside and the Bayleaf guesthouse; it had risen to a staggering£215.00. Everyone, of course, was delighted for lucky winner, Nicola Craske.
Additionally, the raffle raised an amazing £120.00 for Sheringham Carnival funds. Thank you, we are extremely grateful.
Thanks to Mo & Tracey for comparing and The Tyneside for hosting.
A great night at The Crown on Wednesday 24th August
The Carnival Queen and Attendant Selection Evening was successfully held tonight and the Carnival Queen selected is Emma Taylor.
Emma is Mum to Caitlin and Thomas (who came along to support her). Emma is a Fitness Instructor at Splash Leisure Centre. She is also a VW Camper Van enthusiast who moved to Sheringham in 2007 and is very much willing to help out in the thriving community of a town she loves.
Carnival was seeking one Attendant and found that in Alisha May Redgrave. Alisha is 16. Still at school but has worked at Fat Ted’s in Sheringham for a year. She has loved carnival since a little child and her favourite float was the Carnival Queen – just watching them gave her a feeling of being happy and enjoying herself. She is a very enthusiastic person with a lot of personality.
Mollie Gallon, our current Queen, has been offered a position of carnival second chaperone which we are thrilled to report she has accepted.
The Sixth Annual Scira Viking Festival – Sheringham
Prepare for the Invasion!
Saturday February 16th sees the start of a week’s celebration of our Viking history with a host of exciting new features this year.
From the 16th – 22nd, Viking themed family activities will be taking place at Sheringham Museum at The Mo, right on the seafront. Children (and adults if they wish) will be able to take part in numerous events such as designing and painting a Viking shield, making a Viking axe, printing their own design onto a T-Shirt or tote-bag, making and decorating a Viking amulet and many other activities all under the guidance of our professional artists and craftsmen. Or maybe just draw your own design to be made into a unique badge.
Throughout the museum will be a Viking trail plus demonstrations of spinning wool from the Icelandic musk ox. Learn the meanings of the runes and maybe gain some insights into what lies ahead of you.
Then, on the finale day, Saturday 23rd February, get ready for the invasion of the Vikings! Visit the Viking village on The Leas and see what life may have been like in Sheringham a thousand years ago. Watch demonstrations and battles both in the village and on the beach. See a working Viking forge and weaving loom.
Then as the day draws to a close, prepare for the spectacle of the torchlight parade of the Vikings through the town. Fire-performers from Unhinged Circus will keep you entertained as they breathe fire into the darkening skies ready for the arrival of the 28 foot longboat which will then be ceremonially burned on the beach.
All details are in the leaflet which can be downloaded here or will be available from the Tourist Information centre and all our sponsors shops in the town.
Because of tides and weather, timings cannot be precise so be sure to like and follow our Facebook page Sheringham Carnival (official) to be kept up to date with any developments and enjoy the spectacle that is SCIRA!
